Brady Olson

Brady Olson

August 21, 2017

Brady Lee Olson, 47, of Ettrick, WI, died suddenly, but quickly, on Monday, August 21, 2017 when he suffered an accident on his tractor. He was born December 18, 1969, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and was a lifelong resident of Ettrick, a town he loved.

Brady is survived by his wife, Elise Gomsrud Olson, of 20 years; two sassy daughters, Kari and Ellen, parents; Bridget Cantlon Olson and Harold “Punk” Olson; brother Aaron (Anna) Olson; and by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Brady graduated from Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School in 1988. He went on to study at Winona State University and graduated with a degree in Science Education. He briefly taught at Winona Senior High, where he met his wife, and later taught at his alma mater, G-E-T High School, for 22 years. He earned his master’s degrees in education from Winona State University and Global Positioning Systems from St. Mary’s University in Winona.  He also coached various sports throughout his teaching career.

Brady was a leader inside and outside of his classroom as well as in his community. He was a hard-working and talented educator who inspired students. He served as a union leader and negotiator, working as a voice to ensure fairness and respect for his colleagues and the profession that he deeply loved.

Everyone who spent time with Brady knows he was a “social butterfly.” He spent his time hunting, playing sports, enjoying the Mississippi River, and constantly surrounding himself with friends and family. There wasn’t a mountain he wouldn’t ski, a rope swing he wouldn’t try, a dance he didn’t full-heartedly participate in, or an ugly job he wouldn’t do for a friend. He had a caring heart, a hardy sense of humor, and a capacity to love that meant he could never say no.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Living Hope Lutheran Church, 15630 E. 4th Street, Ettrick, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 2 - 8 P.M. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be given to scholarships and charities decided upon at a later date.

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services in Altoona is serving the family.
