Lawrence A. Ziehme, age 90, died from congestive heart failure on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Clairemont Nursing & Rehabilitation in Eau Claire. 

Lawrence was born on January 11, 1925 in Hatchville, Dunn County, WI to the late Albert and Lillian (Hurtgen) Ziehme. He graduated from Elmwood High School in 1943. Lawrence served in the Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946 and after training as a Radar Operator (Aircraft/Artillery) at Fort Bliss, Texas, was stationed in Hawaii for 9 months. After his return he attended Eau Claire Vocational School studying accounting. He worked at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 1947-1987 as an Account Specialist in the Cashier's Office. 

On October, 14, 1950 Lawrence married E. Deyon Bauer at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sand Creek, Wisconsin. Lawrence enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and doing jigsaw puzzles. For many years he was a regular season ticket holder for Blugolds Men's Basketball. Lawrence enjoyed watching sports on television especially the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church from 1959 to present and served as head usher for 15 years. 

He is survived by his wife, Deyon; daughter, Christine (David) Gessner of Eau Claire; son, Steven (Nancy) Ziehme of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Kathryn (Cory) Reynolds, Amanda Ziehme, Mark Gessner, and Amber (Brad) Barabas; great grandson, Aramis Reynolds; sister-in-law, Ardelle Ziehme; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Lyle and Dale; and sister, Irene Fritz.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Brahm Semmler Smith officiating

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and also one hour prior to service on Wednesday at church

Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wisconsin

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Lawrence's name to Trinity Lutheran Church's Endowment Fund, the American Heart Association, or to the donor's choice.
