Loretta L. (Teigen) Gibson, 88, of Eau Claire, formerly of Augusta, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital peacefully with her loving family by her side.  She was born January 14, 1929, in Drammen, WI, daughter of Martin and Tilda (Quall) Teigen.

Loretta is survived by her daughter, Jean (Robert) Staves, Fall Creek, Tom (Lori) Gibson, Chippewa Falls, Linda Black, Tennessee, Jerry Gibson, Augusta; grandchildren Randy (Jenner) Staves, Shannon (Alan) Ross, Jeremy Gibson, Brodi (Bill) Schulz, Jess (Samuel) Urriola, Matt Smith, Wesley (Karen) Coburn,Brent (Paula) Coburn, Tommy Coburn (John), Michael Henderson (Lisa), Michelle Gibson (Josh),  Jackie Gibson (Daniel), sister, Pearline Garnett, several great- grandchildren, four great –great- grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her devoted husband, Tom Gibson of 57 years, her parents, Martin and Tilda Teigen, siblings, Alvina Nelson, Gaylen and Orville Teigen; a granddaughter; Rebecca Gibson;  in laws, Linda Gibson, Loretta Gibson, Raymond Henderson, Dale Black.

Loretta was happiest when surrounded by her loving family.  Those who visited her were always treated to the best baked sweets and goodies.  She enjoyed crocheting, watching TV game shows, and loved to be challenged to a mean game of scrabble.  Loretta’s greatest pride was her children and grandchildren.  She truly cherished them all.  In her earlier years, Loretta could be found in the kitchen making the best meals for the family after a hard days work on the farm.  Everyone who visited will remember being greeted with the smell of a fresh batch of her amazing chocolate chip cookies as she loved to bake.  She was the best mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.  She will be sadly missed and never forgotten.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Chapel Heights United Methodist Church, 300 East Hamilton Ave., Eau Claire. Pastor Cheri Miskimen will officiate. Visitation will take place at the church on Saturday morning from 9 am until the time of service. Burial will take place in the Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington immediately following the funeral service.

Visitation will take place at 9 am on Saturday at the church until the time of the funeral.


Funeral services will take place at 11 am on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Chapel Heights United Methodist Church, 300 East Hamilton Avenue, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Pastor Cheri Miskimen will officiate.
