She was born at home on September 5, 1918, in Windsor, Wisconsin, to Walter and Ruth (Midthun) Becker. She attended Highland Mendota Beach Graded School and Graduated from Middleton High School in 1936. A year later, she graduated from Madison Beauty Culture School. Helen lived almost her entire life in the Middleton, Madison, and Stoughton, Wisconsin area.

She married John A. Kleven in 1938 and 1956, and Theron Miller in 1947. During her life, Helen Worked at many jobs, including factory work at Ray-O-Vac and Red Dot as well as many years as a data entry operator for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Helen enjoyed sewing quilts, stuffed animals and pillows, bowling (until 90 years old), listening to music, and especially dancing. She always said that she would rather dance than eat. She told many interesting stories of living through the Depression years – no phone, no bathroom, hauling water and wood, baths for the entire family, one at a time, in one small wash tub, picking berries for 3 cents a box, walking miles to school regardless of the weather, barn dances, and sliding down hills in the winter time on cardboard boxes. In 1995, she re-united with a third grade classmate, and special friend, Harold Poast, she and Harold spent many years enjoying the activities of the Southern Wisconsin Fiddlers Association – Harold playing the banjo and Helen dancing as the group played for numerous events in the area.

Helen is survived by her seven children: Shirley Roberts, Jean Kleven, Gary Kleven, Wayne (Anita) Kleven, Theron (Jackie) Miller, Gayle Kleven, Craig (Brenda) Kleven; one sister: Carrol Schiller. She is further survived by 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands – John and Theron, sister – Violet Lien and her husband, Olaf, sister – Florence (Rudolph) Krofta, son-in-law – Louis Schiller, granddaughters – Tyra Miller and Erica Talbert, nephews – Gordon Lien and Terry Kleven; all of her husband John’s immediate family – Beatrice and Kenneth Miner, James and Polly Kleven, Clifford and Ruth Kleven, Esther and Richard Fisher, and her twin, Lucille, son-in-law Dr. William Roberts, and her special friend and companion, Harold Poast in 2015.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Linda, Mim, Stacy, Nancy, Lisa, Jill, Cheryl Marsolek, Dr. Breidenbach, and the rest of the wonderful staff at Sunrise Manor and Cheryl at Creative Designs Hair Salon, Whitehall, Wisconsin, whose love, respect, and friendship made Helen’s last years the best they could be.
