Robert K. Henning

October 18, 2017

Robert K Henning, 82 of Town of Washington, passed away on October 18, 2017, after many years of persevering through dialysis.  He will be dearly missed and remembered for his boisterous personality.  Robert was preceded in death by his Mother & Father, respectively.

Robert lived a full life and truly enjoyed spending time with his family & friends.  From 1957-1959, he proudly served in the US Army, while he was based in Stuttgart Germany. He worked 44 years as a Locomotive Engineer, based out of his hometown of Altoona, for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad.  Following retirement, he was very involved in working to extend high-speed rail through Eau Claire and onto Minneapolis.

For most, they knew Bob for giving great hugs and his feisty outlook, yet he was a big softy.  He especially looked forward to taking rides with Eva to look at the Colors, spending time with friends & family at Deer Camp, and fun luncheons with pals.  Robert was proud of his family and cherished the memories made with his three Grand Children.  His favorite pastime was touring the back roads in his Cadillac.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Eva, of 53 years; Son Donald (Janelle); Daughter Ann; Grandsons Dalton and Benjamin; and Granddaughter Aubrey. He is also survived by his Aunt Phyllis Bernicke, Cousins Barbara Duszynski and family, Ray and Joey Henning and family, Ione Johnson and family, Mark and Vickie Hagen, Laurie Sullivan, Frank Bundt, and Edgar Bundt, and many other cousins. He is further survived by Brothers and Sisters in Law and their respective families; as well as cherished lifelong friends and the new ones he made from the Cardiac Rehab Group. We want to thank all of the Caregivers we've encountered over this journey and appreciate all of their help.
