Karen Louise Brown (Roiland) passed away on October 17th, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer. Karen was born on November 18th, 1965 in Appleton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alvin and Barbara (Stolan) Roiland of Louisburg, Minnesota. Karen spent her first year in Louisburg, until the family moved to Cyprus, Minnesota, where she attended school until 1979. The family then moved to Atwater, Minnesota, where Karen attended school, graduating in 1984. She received her degree from the University of Minnesota Morris, and eventually earned her master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1994.

In 1992 Karen married John Brown, and to this union, two children were born- Aaron Thomas and Marissa Louise; both of Eau Claire.

Karen is survived by her parents, Alvin and Barbara (Stolan) Roiland of Atwater, Minnesota, and her sole brother, Brian (Lori) Roiland of Wilmar, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Esther and Theodore Roiland; Violet and Leonard Stolan.

Karen loved children and had a natural talent for teaching.  She proudly taught elementary in the Eau Claire School District for 29 years.

Visitation will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire, WI 54701 on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4-7 pm and again on Saturday at the church from 10 am until the time of service. Funeral service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Sarah Semmler Smith officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Eau Claire.  All are welcome to attend.

Visitation will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4-7 pm and again on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service.

Service

Funeral service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Sarah Semmler Smith officiating.
