Karl W. Spieker, age 59 of Eau Claire, formerly of Durand, died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Clearwater Care Center in Eau Claire after a battle with heart disease.

Karl was born on November 14, 1957 in Milwaukee. He was the son of Neil and Geraldine “Brooks” (Deschner) Spieker. Karl grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from James Madison High School. After high school, Karl attended St. Olaf University in Northfield, MN where he also did his seminary school. Karl married Lori Knutson, together they had children and later divorced. Karl’s first call was to Staples, MN where he served for seven years. In 1988, he took the call to be the minister of Faith Lutheran Church in Durand until he retired from the ministry. Karl moved to Eau Claire in 2006 where he was heavily involved in the Alcohol Anonymous program, where he continued to serve and help other people. In 2014 his health forced him to retire.

Karl enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, watching his children’s sporting events and taking care of his dogs. His passion in life was helping people through ministry and in times of need. Most of all, Karl loved to spend time with family and friends.

Karl is survived by his children; Kaleb (Lindsey Radle) of Burnsville, MN and Kristine (Nate) Dixon of Eden Prairie, MN, two granddaughters; Kaydence and Kiya, two brothers; Tim of Gwinn, MI and Steve (Carol) of Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Durand. At the request of the family please wear your Green Bay Packer attire to help celebrate Karl’s life!
