Arlene Borgen

August 31, 2017

Arlene Jealene Borgen, age 58, of Eau Claire, WI passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 31st.

She was born June 30th, 1959 in Williston, North Dakota to George and Ruth (Myers) Borgen. At age 7, she moved with her family to Eau Claire, WI where she attended Central and Memorial High Schools. After graduating with an associate’s degree from Chippewa Valley Technical College, Arlene directed food service at KinderCare day care.

Arlene was a member at New Life Open Bible church and also participated in programs at other churches she attended. From singing in the choir to acting in church dramas to decorating for weddings, Arlene was active in her church community.

With a servant’s heart, many of Arlene’s favorite pastimes involved blessing others. She loved to shop for gifts for every occasion and to cross-stitch keepsakes for family members. She spent countless hours in the kitchen cooking feasts for family and for her beloved prayer group ladies, and she especially enjoyed whipping up a delicious dessert. Every year, she anticipated the Norsk Hostfest in Minot, ND where she helped her cousin make and serve bread pudding. Everyone knew her for her kindness, her humility, her hats and jewelry collection, and her love for the Lord.

Arlene often shared her testimony with others and did not allow her health to hold her back. After being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at age 11, she underwent treatment and was healed. When a blood clot caused subsequent bleeding on her brain at age 56, she trusted that God would heal her and He did. Even after her diagnosis of inoperable brain cancer in July of 2017, Arlene insisted that she and her mother continue their prayer group ministry. After a month of being cared for by her family at home, Arlene was healed when the Lord took her up to be with Him in heaven.

As Arlene would have prayed, we thank the Lord for what He has done in her life, what He is doing in our lives as we grieve her loss, and what He is going to do as we live with Arlene’s memory in our hearts.

Arlene is preceded in death by her father, George Borgen. She is survived by her mother Ruth Borgen, brothers Doug (Christine) and Dan Borgen, her sister Karla (Mark) Hillestad, her nephew Erick (Tina) Borgen, her nieces Heather Rajotte, Kristi (Eric) Garfield, Kelsey (Shane) Messner, her great nephews and nieces, and countless dear friends and family members.
