Joan "Jo" L. Douphner

July 30, 2017

Joan "JoJo" L. Douphner, age 85, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.

JoJo was born on October 8, 1931 to the late Alfred and Louise (Lambrecht) Bonus in Eau Claire. She married Robert "Duffy" Douphner at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and had celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary just prior to Bob's death in August of 2000.

JoJo worked for the phone company prior to joining the Eau Claire School District where she worked for many years. She worked in the food service program starting at North High School and ending her career as Head Cook at South Middle School.

She enjoyed the years her and Duffy spent on bowling and golf leagues and the times they were able to travel (especially their cruise to Alaska). JoJo spent many hours playing cards with her card club friends and she loved her furry cat friends.

JoJo is survived by her daughters, Vicky L. Samuelson, Debra J. Shoemaker and Kimberly (Pat) Lynn; grandchildren, Roger (Missy) Shoemaker, Lindsay Shoemaker, Ryan and Erin Lynn, and Eric Samuelson; great grandchildren, Aliza and Cole, Kylie, Kaitlyn, Kara and Kendra, and Josie; brother-in-law, Chuck Bertrand; cousin and dear friend, Elaine Long; and dear friend and neighbor, Jenelle and Travis Mertens; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Duffy"; sisters, Mary Jane Bonus and Sharon Bonus Bertrand; sister-in-law, Evelyn (Raymond) Boxwell.

A Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Robert Hoekstra officiating. The family encourages colorful attire as we celebrate JoJo's life.

Visitation: one hour prior to the service

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be given in memory of JoJo to the Eau Claire County Humane Association
