Dennis M. O'Donahoe, age 78 of Eau Claire passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire.

Dennis M. O’Donahoe, 78 of Eau Claire, passed away Sunday, July 2nd, 2017, at Luther Hospital (Mayo Clinic Health Systems) under Hospice care.

Denny was born May 11th, 1939, to Douglas and Ruth O’Donahoe in Eau Claire and was raised in Altoona, WI.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1963, where he was mostly stationed in Hawaii. In 1969, Denny founded O’Donahoe’s Carpet Service of Eau Claire. He passed the business to his son Daniel upon retirement. He married Rosemary Palmer in 1980. They enjoyed traveling together and with friends to many places. He was a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #402 for 38 years.

He was known for being Irish and a great cook. Denny loved serving his “Irish stew” at the Elks and was blessed with a great sense of humor. He adopted 3 children into his life as a young man, had two birth children then added a step-son. He taught them all how to fish, hunt, cook and play. He instilled a great work ethic and common sense.  He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary of 36 years; children Becky (Danny) Weinstein, Scott (Ellyn) O’Donahoe, Daniel (Cynthia) O’Donahoe, Michelle (Randall) Johnson, Derrick (Kelly) George.

Grandchildren: Lucas (Tina) Turner, Sandra (Jose) Coral, Johnny, Mary and Esther Reily, Douglas O’Donahoe, Tessica O’Donahoe, Nick (Nichole) Staack, Jared and Carter Johnson, Jenna and Sydne George. Great Grandchildren: Madeleine, River, Taviah, Keyellah. Sisters: Pat (Dave) Mayer, Maureen (Tom) Stanton, Sue (Don) Erickson, Cyndi (Mike) Green, Mother-in -law Bernice Palmer, Sister –in-laws Karen Gillis, Claire (Steve) Hove, Rita (Dean) Janaky and Dick (Connie) Palmer.

He was preceded in death by Parents: Ruth and Douglas O’Donahoe, Daughter Wendy O’Donahoe, Father-in-law Joe Palmer, Brother- and Sister-in-law David and JoAnne O’Donahoe, Sisters: Connie Burdick, Miggie Flynn, Sister-in-law Judy Levens and Nephew Arthur Mayer.

Memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017, Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church, 123 W. Hamilton Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701, with Pastor Todd Lenz officiating. Memorial visitation will take place at 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Inurnment will immediately follow the memorial service in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire with military honors being rendered by the American Legion Post #53. Lunch will follow in the Bethesda Fellowship Hall.
