At the age of 96, Lovice Elaine Mitchell of Eau Claire Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29th, 2017, surrounded by many loving family members.

She was born on August 22nd, 1920, to Eva and Raymond Hewitt in Augusta Wisconsin where she was raised. She graduated from Augusta High School in 1937.

Lovice married Edward W. Mitchell in Eau Claire on February 7, 1942. They raised five children together. She was a wonderful mother, a true homemaker, and a great cook. She loved cooking and sharing recipes with her family and friends. After raising children, Lovice was a medical secretary for Dr. Ralph Hudson and Dr. Birney Dibble for over 20 years. After retirement, Lovice and Ed enjoyed their travels all over the United States.

Lovice was blessed with many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. She truly loved and cherished being with family and enjoyed family gatherings.

She also enjoyed reading, playing bridge and various card and board games. After her eye sight failed, she enjoyed listening to numerous books on tape.

Lovice was an active member of Lake Street United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She held many leadership roles and was active in the United Methodist Women where she was an officer at the local and district level. She cared deeply for her church family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Edward; her infant son, James; her son, John; and her brother, Douglas Hewitt. She is survived by her 4 children, Susan Genrich, Ronald Mitchell (Penny), Barbara Bignell (Bill), and Robert Mitchell (Donna). She is further survived by her grandchildren, Tami Blodgett (Mike), Angela Printz (Steve), Ronald Dickerson (Cindi), Jennifer Bignell (Dan), David Genrich (Marcy), Tom Genrich, Elizabeth Burroughs (Chad), Dan Genrich (Tanya), Jasmine Mitchell, Dustin Mitchell (Erin), Andrea Kohls (Chuck), Jamie Schneider (Stevie), Melissa Lintz, Raeann Cramer (Clark), Amy Johnson (Lance) and Julie Mitchell (Tanya) . She is also survived by 37 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Janice and James Teigen; and many nephews and nieces; great nephews; and nieces and numerous friends.

The family would like to thank the Syverson Home and River Pines Nursing Home for the loving care they gave to our mother/grandmother for the past 3 years. During her time there, she enjoyed many activities and met many residents and caregivers that became her friends. We also want to thank Dr. Sal Obaid for the wonderful care that he gave her for many years. We appreciate the excellent care provided by the staff at Mayo Clinic Health System this past month as well.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5 16-18.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Lake Street United Methodist Church in Eau Claire, with Rev. Don Gribble officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service at church.  Burial will immediately follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services, Altoona, is serving the family.
