Ginger N. Tallman

Ginger N. Tallman

April 3, 2017

Ginger Nadine (Cote) Tallman, 68, of Eau Claire, passed away in her sleep at Clearwater Care Center on April 3, 2017, just 8 days short of her birthday.

Ginger was born in Eau Claire, Wis., on April 11, 1948, the daughter of William Earnest and LaVerne Dorothy Cote.

As a child, Ginger loved dancing, taking lessons and performing in recitals at the Evelyn Knight Dance Studio on Eau Claire’s East Side Hill. Ginger’s mom, LaVerne, was a long-time troop leader and employee of the Girl Scouts, and so, not surprisingly, Ginger was a Brownie and a Girl Scout. In 1966, she graduated from North High School. Throughout her entire life Ginger was a dog- and cat-lover; if she had a favorite dog, it was probably Joey, her white Bichon. As a young mother Ginger was devoted to her children, following them with their traveling sports teams and spending hours boating with the family. In the mid-1980s, as still a young woman, Ginger was diagnosed with MS, but with lots of medical assistance over the next 30 years, she was able to control the symptoms and lead a reasonably normal life. During those challenging years, she loved restaurant dinners in the evening and socializing with friends. Christmas was easily her favorite time of the year, especially the part where she got to give gifts to all of the grandkids! As her MS progressed, she spent time watching her favorite TV shows on The Jewelry Channel. She loved gold “bling”! Finally, while still able, she enjoyed planting and growing perennial flowers and being outside in her electric wheelchair – she drove all over Eau Claire in her “scooter.” Ginger was baptized, confirmed, and a life-long member at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Ginger is survived by her sister, Diana (Richard) Christianson of Eau Claire; three children, Trevor (Kelly) Zimmerman of Eau Claire, Michael [Samantha Schirmer] Zimmerman of Lake Hallie, and Angie (Brent) Girard of Eau Claire; nine grandchildren, Rachel and Alexandra Westphal, Anthony, Andrew, Mason, and Jacob Zimmerman, and Hayley, Lucas, and Abby Zimmerman; two nieces Erin (Brian) Stark of Dickinson, North Dakota, and Sara (Joel) Willis of Lime Ridge, Wisconsin; and step-daughter Elizabeth Dolezel of Eau Claire.

Ginger was preceded in death by her older brother, William, Jr., (2008) and her parents, William (2010) and LaVerne (2015).

Ginger's children would like to thank the staffs at Clearwater Care Center and Sacred Heart Hospital for the loving care they provided for their mom during the last days of her journey on this earth.
