LaVerne E. Lange

LaVerne E. Lange, age 89 of Marshfield, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield after a long battle with cancer.

She was born to Henry and Erna (nee Springstube) Funk in Shoto, Wisconsin and eventually the family moved to Milwaukee where she became a welder for most of her life.  She was married to Richard Lange and had 2 children.  Tammy and Michael.  She and Richard divorced and LaVerne moved back to the Two Rivers/Manitowoc Lakeshore area in 1966. At that time LaVerne started a career in housekeeping within the Hospital systems in the area.  After her children were grown and out of school LaVerne took an interest in traveling the United States. She lived in Mississippi for a while and also in Longmont Colorado for several years until she eventually moved back to the Lakeshore region.  When LaVerne was diagnosed with cancer she moved to the Marshfield are to be close to her Daughter and Grandson.

LaVerne loved to play card games and Yahtzee, she loved arranging flowers, spending time shopping and watching cooking shows.  She also loved to cook.  She looked forward to visits from her great-grandson Dakota and her Grand dogs.  They always brought a smile to her face up to the very end.

She is survived by daughters: Tammy M. Smith of Neillsville; and SanLee Holmes-Kellicut of Auckland, New Zealand; Sisters: Marlene Hoffman of Green Bay; and June (Vernon) Trottier of Manitowoc; a Sister-in-law Shirley Funk of Manitowoc; 3 Grand-daughters: Ann of Hartland, WI; Dawn of Pukekohe East, New Zealand; and Nova of Auckland, New Zealand; 9 Great-grandchildren: Dakota, Emily, Bryce, Dylan, Hayley, Rhiannon, Summer, Ariana and Aston; and 2 Grand-dogs who she loved deeply, Bella and Daliah. 

LaVerne was that special Mother that every Daughter was proud to have when they had their friends over because LaVerne treated every one of her children’s friends as if they were her own.  In that case LaVerne is also survived by very special people that also in called her “Mom” especially: Susan Tollefson Kolodzik, Karen Fanslau Gass, Deb Rohr Mueller, Marilyn Lambert Schleis, Cheryl Krueger, Tracy Becker, Karen Smiley, Jim Vandeberg, Ginger Langreck and Steve Nordstrom

LaVerne is preceded in death by her parents; a Son Michael Lange; a Brother Raymond Funk; 3 sisters: Violet Moore, Arlene Frasch and Edna Frasch; and a son-in-law Edward Smith.
