David "Bud" Morgan, age 98, of Eau Claire, died Thursday at River Pines in Altoona.

David was born March 26, 1918, in Chicago to Rose and Harry Morgan.  He grew up during the "Big Band" era, and because he played music with adults at an early age, was nicknamed "Buddy."

Bud joined the Army during WW2 as a demolitions expert, but also had the job of being company bugler.  Morgan moved to Eau Claire, met his wife (Mary Ann Derouin), and founded Morgan Music Store during the 1950's.  He became well known in this area as a musician, businessman, and teacher.

Bud is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann; his siblings, Lester Morgan and Shirley Lowenthal; his sister-in-law, Elaine Derouin; children: Ivy(Jim) Hartman, Gregg(Marilyn) Morgan, Terri (Bruce) Riedinger, Todd Morgan, Robert (Jane) Morgan, John Morgan, and Rich(Colleen) Morgan; 17 grandchildren (Kristi, Traci, Mandi, Rachel, Ryan, Kelli, Tina, Henry, Charlie, Lindsay, Tal, Kali, Bria, Andrew, Thomas, Kendra, and Kirsten); and numerous great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister (Lorraine), and 2 sons (Peter and Michael).

Memorials may be given in his name to the Shell Lake Arts Center Jazz Camp, PO Box 315 Shell Lake, Wisconsin 54871.

Funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701. Father Don Meuret will officiate. Visitation will take place at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the Eulogy at 10:50 a.m. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Eau Claire. Military honors being rendered by American Legion Post #53.

Visitation

Visitation will take place at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the Eulogy at 10:50 a.m.
