Douglas A. Larson, 74, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 21, 2017. 

Doug was born December 16, 1942, to Oscar and Martha Larson in Eau Claire, WI. He married the love of his life Karen Lang, on September 25, 1964 at Lake Street Methodist Church.

He attended Memorial High School until joining the United States Navy in 1960. Doug served in the US Navy aboard the USS Marsh De 699. Following his service he worked for Uniroyal for 25 years. He then followed one of his passions and co-owned a small archery shop in Altoona, WI. More recently Doug continued part-time work for Markquart Dealerships, and numerous odd jobs. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone whenever needed.

Doug was an avid outdoorsman, always enjoyed fishing, deer and bear hunting.  He cherished being able to share his passion for the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. Doug enjoyed reading and was a life-long learner, always willing to teach himself and others something new. He was a very creative man who enjoyed wood-working, building many things such as dining room tables, cabinets, gun cases, clocks, and more. Doug had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed photographing wildlife. He spent many summers camping with friends and family.

He was a very proud grandfather, and an enthusiastic Green Bay Packer fan. Doug always had a smile on his face and a hug ready to greet you. 

Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Karen; children, Kelly (Steve) Mueller, Chad Larson, and April Larson. His much-loved grandchildren, Stephen Woodford, Kaci Mueller, Brad Mueller, and Jeffrey Woodford. Siblings; Arnie (Barb) Larson, Ted (Bea) Larson, Ethel Larson, Geri (Ernie) Bates, Fran Kelly, and Pat (Larry) Smith. Along with many other beloved family members, friends, and his trusty side-kick, Milo. 

He was preceded in death by parents Oscar and Martha Larson, and Brother William “Bill” Larson.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many special friends. 

Memorial service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home in Eau Claire. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Military honors rendered by the VFW Club #305 - Starr Avenue will conclude the Memorial Service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Visitation will take place on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.

Service

Memorial service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home in Eau Claire. Military honors rendered by the VFW Club #305 - Starr Avenue will conclude the Memorial Service at the funeral home.
