Omar C. Christianson, 88, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Saturday, October 30, 2016. He was born June 7, 1928, to Olaf and Agnes (Johnson) Christianson. Omar is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Morstad and Julie (Mike) Conner. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren, Marissa Hansen (Wayne), Kristin Contons (Matthew), Andrea McGrath (Cliff), and Nathan Conner, plus six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, June L. (Klevgard) Christianson, his brother, Konrad Christianson, and his parents.

He served in active duty with the Army in the Korean War from January 30, 1952 until December 31, 1953 and earned a Purple Heart, among other awards. He continued his service to our country as a member of the American Legion Post# 53, Strum VFW-Post 6550, and Purple Heart Local Chapter 550. Omar spent his career in heavy machinery sales for Caterpillar; he also enjoyed working on his homestead farm and spending time with family and friends.   

He was a loving, supportive husband, father, and grandfather. His strength of character, faith, honesty, hard work, and devotion to family, made a life long impact on each of us.  He will be missed dearly.

We will be forever grateful to all healthcare professionals, extended family, and close friends who loved and supported our Dad during this difficult time.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials go to Purple Heart Local Chapter 550, American Legion Post# 53, 634 Water St, Eau Claire, WI 54703, and/or Strum VFW-Post 6550, 202 S 5th Ave Strum Wisconsin.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire, WI 54701. Pastor Peter Bredlau will officiate. Visitation will take place Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday morning at the church an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington on Thursday, November 3, 2016 immediately following the funeral service with military honors and a church salute being rendered by the American Legion Post #53 and the VFW Post 6550.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday morning at the church an hour prior to the service..
