LeRoy Alan Cater

December 12, 2013

LeRoy Alan Cater, 49, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, December 12, 2013 from complications due to Huntington’s disease while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to Ronald and Joyce (Martin) Cater, October 15, 1964, in Eau Claire.  LeRoy graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1983. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Forestry from UW – Stevens Point in 1992.  LeRoy was united in marriage with Becky Rosnow in Eau Claire on March 14, 1992.  They have resided in Eau Claire since 1993.  LeRoy worked for the City of Eau Claire Forestry, Parks and Recreation, and Street Departments until he had to take an early leave due to his illness.

LeRoy was known for his quick wit, sarcasm, and could always be seen with a smile on his face. He was an avid outdoorsman who was happiest when he was in the woods or on the water.  He enjoyed sharing his love and enthusiasm for the outdoors with others.  Camping and traveling with family and friends were some of his favorite past times. He cherished the time spent with his daughters most of all.  Time spent with great-niece and great-nephew, Paige and Ethan Burrows, brightened his many long hours at home after he could no longer go into the woods.

LeRoy is survived by his wife and two beautiful daughters, Sidney (18) and Isabella (15).  He is further survived by his father, Ronald Cater, of Altoona, and mother-in-law, Joan Rosnow Jeske, and his siblings Steven (Martha) Cater, Gene (Claudia) Cater, Leslie (Darlene) Cater, Linda Heath (Bruce Halama) all of Eau Claire, and Barbara (Jeff) Salisbury of Abbotsford, brothers and sister-in-laws, Jeff (Nancy) Rosnow of Oregon, WI, Peggy (Thomas) Paiser of Pardeeville, and Todd (Ann) Rosnow of Alpharetta, GA.  He is also survived by many step-brothers and step-sisters, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, great-nieces, and great nephews, cousins and many good friends.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his mother Joyce Cater, step-mother LaVere Cater, father-in-law John Rosnow, paternal and maternal grandparents, nephew Johnny Heath, great-niece Emily Burrows, and best four-legged friend, Jake.
