Eileen Julia Quirk, 92, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at Mayo Clinic Health System on Friday, March 2, 2012.

Eileen was born in Edmund, WI, on April 30, 1919 to Severt and Pauline (Holmen) Severtson.

She married Thomas F. Quirk on February 16, 1946 in Dodgeville, WI. They enjoyed their life on Lake Wissota and , always together, their many cross country adventures in their airplane, flying coast to coast, north to south. Tom preceded her in death on June 4, 2001.

A pleasant, sweet, classy woman who had a great sense of humor and was a good sport, loved her life at Eastridge Estates. She enjoyed many friends, varied social events and exercise activities, including her daily one mile walk.

 Eileen is survived by three children: Jane P. Rafferty, Eau Claire; Michael (Mary Tavolacci) Quirk, North Carolina; and Jean (Bryan) Liljander, Eau Claire: four grandchildren, M. Joseph (Jodie) Rafferty, Ashland; Ann (Ted) Sweeney, Florida; Thomas Quirk, New York; and Carl (Vicky) Liljander, Beaver Dam: 6 great grandchildren: Haven Jane and Asher Rafferty; Sadie and Maria Eileen Sweeney; and Carla and Zachary Liljander; two sisters-in-law: Laurabelle Severtson and Marge Severtson Domer and many nieces and nephews

Eileen was preceded in death by one sister, Florence Jacka and brothers, Donald, Melvin, Elmo, Vernon, and infant brother, Lester.

Eileen experienced excellent care from the Mayo’s Medical/Telemetry South Tower staff. In particular, the family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Peter Wagner, Suzanne, and Kathryn for their loving and thoughtful care.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, March 7 at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral Home with Pastor Nathaniel Perry officiating. Friends may call Wednesday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Assc. 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231-4596.
