Lorraine Mae Iverson, 87, of Eleva, WI passed away on her favorite holiday, St. Patrick's Day, Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Crystal Lake Manor in Strum, WI with her family at her side.

She was born on September 15, 1923 in Eleva, WI to Arthur, Sr. and Verna (Lawler) Kelley. Lorraine attended the Hamlin School and graduated from Eleva HIgh School in 1942. On September 25, 1943 she married Ernest Iverson at Trinity of Norden Lutheran Church. After high school she worked at the ordinance plant in Eau Claire and then worked at Gillette Tire Company until her daughter was born. She and Ernest farmed their entire lives in rural Eleva.

She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden where she was very active in Sunday School and all other organizations and held many offices. She was also a 4-H leader for 20 years and served on the executive board of the Trempealeau County 4-H. She and her husband were chosen as 4-H leaders to represent their county at the 4-H Foundation in Washington, D.C. Lorraine also served as vice president of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Northwest Wisconsin for two years.

Lorraine loved her children and grandchildren and the life on the farm as well as hunting and fishing.

She is survived by two children, daughter, Karen (Verle) Deetz of Eleva and son, Gerald Iverson (friend, Kay Devine) of Mondovi; five grandchildren, Dawn (Wayne) Asher of Eleva, Danny Deetz of Eleva, Debbie (Jason) Stanislawski of Menomonie, Chad (Amanda) Iverson of Eleva and Kelly (Jennifer) Iverson of Eleva; eleven great grandchildren, Ryan, Mackenzie and Jacob Asher, Calvin, Caryn, Connor, Tyler and Josie Iverson, Samuel and Sawyer Deetz and Eric Walters; a sister, Shirley (Orville) Myren of Eleva; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Pippenger of Altoona and Lorraine Jackelyn of Eau Claire; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 2003; her parents; three brothers, Gordon, Arthur Jr. and Robert Kelley; a grandson, Robbie; a brother in law, LeRoy Pippenger; a sister-in-law, Patricia Gifford; a daughter-in-law, Donna Iverson and a niece, Julie Myren.

The family would like to thank Crystal Lake Manor and its staff for providing Lorraine with her second home - also Black River Memorial Hospice for their loving care.


Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kjentvet - Smith Funeral Home in Eleva and for one hour before the funeral at the church on Monday.


Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden, rural Mondovi, WI with Rev. David Bangert officiating. Burial will be at the Eleva Cemetery at a later date.
