Janice Margaret Black, 74, of Eau Claire died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 3, 2008.

She was born in Eau Claire on April 18, 1934, the daughter of William and Eulalia (Connelly) Wolf. She graduated from Regis High School with the class of 1952.

Jan married Roy I. Black on June 9, 1956 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Eau Claire.

She was employed by Sears for twenty years, retiring as a supervisor in 1991.

A strong women of faith, she was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church throughout her life, serving on many committees and volunteering her time on various ministries.

Jan  is survived by her six daughters, Terri (Michael Schultz) Black of Hayward, Cindy (Brian) Storberg of Hudson, Vicki (Steve) Wagner and Kris (Mike) Miller both of Eau Claire, Betsy (Jon) Fisher of Loretto, MN, and Jana (Gregg) Perry of Altoona; eleven grandchildren, Dustin and Luke Schultz, Tony, Randi and Paul Wagner, Erin and Pete Miller, Chelsey and Ben Fisher, Ryan and Colin Perry; three sisters, Eleanor Bronk of Sarona, Margaret (James) Johnson and Mary Kathryn (Vern) Grant both of Eau Claire; her brother, William (Betty) Wolf of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father William A. Dhein officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with 6:30 p.m. Public Prayer Service.
